Cook MORE, Fast Food LESS - Weekly Meals Made Easy!

Cook MORE, Fast Food LESS - Weekly Meals Made Easy!

Do you ever catch yourself spending way too much money on fast food every week? Have you made promises to spend less, but still spiral into the same spending routines? - I know I have.

I know as a college student who lives off-campus that it's incredibly hard to have the motivation to cook once you get home after a long gruesome day of classes and work, and the thought of Panda Express being just a 5 minute walk away from your class doesn't help your motivation either. Just remember that "It's only $7" turns into $7 a day, $35 a week, which ends with a WHOPPING $140 a month on Panda, or any other restaurant alone. - Double that for those who eat there twice a day!

You hear that?? That's your wallet crying...

So, how can we turn that frown upside down?

  • Food Planning.

So let's start by planning food. So what do you like to eat that can be consumed for a week without you getting tired of it? Find an entree, veggie, and another side to make your meals and buy a good portion of it (Make sure you're actually going to eat it and not let it go to waste).

  • Time to Cook -YES, Cook.

If you're too busy during the week, prep your food on the weekends to have ready for the upcoming week. (Remember, you do not have to be a master chef; just make simple meals).

  • Lunch containers.

Depending on how much you like to carry, this is a very important factor!! I personally love my food to be organized and NOT touching. So, if you're OCD like me when it comes to food, I suggest 3-Compartment containers such as  NimNik Kitchenette. I personally love these containers and they have made lunch so much easier.

I hope this could be of some help to anyone out there who's needing to put money up here and there, but is worrying about food. Just know that spending $7 on a pack of tortellini that will get you through a school week is a much better deal than $7 for one meal that you'll devour in the car before you even finish the ride home.

So let's all try to cook more and fast food less.

Until Next Time...

XOXO-Tika
